but in 2002, I had a bike accident which left me in constant
pain, hobbling around like an old woman.
I had constant headaches, pain down both legs and feet,
back pain that affected my breathing, shoulder and neck pain

worse than labour pain and all day, everyday.
I was going to the chiropractor 3 times a week and I could
feel the adjustment wasn’t holding. I was slipping back
even as I was walking out the office. Just gaining stability
in the joints and strength in my body has allowed the adjustments
to hold for much longer. I only go once a month now and I
am hoping to cut that down to going twice a year for a check
up.
Improving my posture and learning how to move better has
made a huge difference in the simple things like picking up
my 5 year old, doing house work and gardening and the best
benefit is that I am pain free for the first time in 7 years!
I feel strong and capable and I have far more energy. I
am working two jobs one being labouring on a building site!
I remember what I learnt in my Pilates class to move well
and then stretch after.

Now is probably a good time to say I hate exercise, but
I don’t feel that way about my Pilates. I have met great
people in class and now I look forward to going as an outlet
for stress. I always leave feeling better, having laughed
the way through class. Even doing just one class a week my
body has toned but far more importantly I felt pain relief
from the 2nd lesson. I encourage anyone thinking about it
to give it a go.
